What techniques can I show my son to get him to improve his bowling speed? He did quite well last year, but seems to be battling to find the same rhythm and pace this year.
Hi Wallace,
The key with fast bowling is to refine your technique, ensuring your son has a smooth and clean motion when bowling. Momentum is also key, so ensure he is driving forward with his arms and keeping a tight position. His non-bowling arm is also key, so it's important that he drives it down so it passes his side - this will help increase the speed of his bowling shoulder and the ball when it's released!
It might be worth watching his technique and then seeing if there's any particular areas that needs improving. I've found this video for you which goes through the fast bowling technique, and also includes a great little drill with cones which will improve his overall bowling motion.
Hope that helps!
