I'm coaching an u/14 cricket team and none of these boys have ever played the game let alone held a cricket bat. Help!!
I'm just starting out but am assured that for complete beginners it is important to get them playing cricket as soon as possible. So a warm up about catching to get everyone moving, then get them swinging a bat (show them the basic grip and stance but then let them have a go) and then show them the basics of bowling. Then a game of Kwik Cricket or similar. Next session build on those with some progression such as backswing and step for batting and introduce bowling from the base position.
Good Luck!
I found that my own early sessions tried to pack in too much so dont!

A game of cricket in whatever format is essential because that is why they have turned up - TO PLAY CRICKET!
