stand far away from the wickets

Judge how far you need to stand back, ideally so that the ball is waist height rather that ankle height when it reaches you. Get into a "power position", toes pointing forward, gloves pointing down, rise only when the ball bounces (this is v important), learn to move feet sideways quickly, make sure you have soft hands and "give" when catching the ball and keep head still. Main thing against fast bowlers is quick feet movement and not rising too early. Hope that helps.
