Low post power moves - footwork moves (ii)

Players take it in turn to v cut / flash across the lane to the low post area. Upon arriving, post up correctly and receive pass from passer. Player will then perform the designated move. Inside pivot - jump shot. Front pivot, pump fake, step through.

Mirror Drill

Have players and cones set up as shown in the video. The player with the ball will hold it in the middle of their chest. Going for 30 seconds the defensive player must keep their head in line with the ball by staying low and using a defensive slide. The player with the ball can move how they like side to side between the cones.

The attacker draws the defender to tackle him but beats him by passing the ball behind his back before suddenly changing direction and driving off to his left

The attacker draws the defender to tackle him but beats him by passing the ball behind his back and changing direction, driving off to his right Advanced players can attempt to spin both ways

Pass & Move

One player has a ball and another player starts in the middle of a cross-shaped set of cones. On the command, Red Player 1 moves to touch one of the cones before returning back to the middle to receive a pass from White 1. The player then has to touch a different cone before returning back to the middle to receive a pass. Once the middle player has touched all four cones then the player switch over.

Pass and Cut

Player 1 passes to player 2 before making a cut to the low post then to the high post. Player 2 passes to high post and makes a scissors cut for return pass and shot.

Pass and to the circle - shot relay

Player 1 will pass to player 2. After the pass player 1 will cut to the bottom of the circle, stop and cut straight up above the free-throw line. Once player 1 is above the free-throw line, player 2 will pass the ball where player 1 will catch and shoot. Player 1 will become the next passer in the corner.

Player 1 passes to player 2 before making a cut around the cone and then receiving a pass back from player 2. Player 1 then goes on to have a shot.

Setup the drill as shown in the diagram. Player 1 makes a pass to player 2 before continuing their run, makes a cut and then receives the ball from player 2. Player 1 then takes a shot. After having a shot player 1 takes player 2s original position and player 2 joins the queue of players.

Setup as shown. Player 1 passes to player 2 before making a big cut across court to receive the pass back from player 2, and the continues on to have a shot. On having a shot player 1 then takes player 2s position and player 2 joins the end of the queue.

Player 1 and player 3 dribble the ball to the foul line extended, make the pass to players 4 and 2 who have made an L cut to the elbow area.

Phantom Fundamental Drill (ii)

Players v-cut their way up and down the court, with their up in front of their chest (ready to catch an imaginary pass). Take 2-3 paces to the right and (cut) change direction and speed, then 2-3 paces to the left etc. In addition to this, when players hear the whistle blow they must stop as quickly as possible. A one count stop is executed. On the second blast of the whistle players can continue to v-cut their way up the court.

Phantom Fundamentals Drill (i)

Players v-cut their way up and down the court, with their up in front of their chest (ready to catch an imaginary pass). Take 2-3 paces to the right and (cut) change direction and speed, then 2-3 paces to the left etc. Player should be on balance at all times.

Phantom Fundamentals Drill (iii)

On the whistle, players will execute a reverse pivot, then a front pivot and then continue v-cutting up the court. Players should be balanced and in the triple threat position throughout the pivot movement. Practice pivoting on left and right foot.

Post up - Drop Step

This drill needs 1 passer and 1 player posting up ready to shoot the basketball. The pass will be made into the post, once the player receives the ball they will drop step, jump stop and shoot a power move off the backboard.(Watch the video to see the footwork of the move) The passer will become the shooter and the next person in line will become the passer.

Post up - part 2

With knees bent and back bent to 20 degrees, drop step then turn. Bounce the ball then chin the ball up to the power box and being square to the board, shoot. Do twenty of these then move to the other side and do the same thing.

Rebound, Outlet and Squaring

One player with the ball, facing the backboard. On the command the player rebounds the ball off the backboard and then passes to player 2 before running to the three point line. Once they get there they stop, pivot to face the basket, do a v-cut to the near side and accelerate towards the basket to receive a pass from Player 2. The player that passes the ball goes in for the rebound.
