1 on 1 continuous - rear view

Split into 2 lines and have a line on either side of the court. One player in the middle with a basketball. The player in the middle will pass to the 1st player in one of the lines. After the pass is made that player will go and defender the receiver of the pass. They will play 1v1. Only 1 shot is allowed. Once a shot has been taken the ball will be passed to the opposite line where the offensive player will become the defender.

Dribbling Relay

Cat and Mouse

Set up two wide cones with 2 teams facing each other. Both teams are going in the same direction around the cones. The goal is to catch up with the other team to tag or over take them. The team that does this is the winner. Each player will complete a full circle around both cones before passing to the next player.

Dribbling Relay

Changing Hands

Player 1 dribbles the ball with their right hand, change to the left and then go for a lay up shot. Player 2 starts with the left hand, then changes to the right before attempting a lay up.

Dribbling Relay

Circle Relay

Set the cones up as shown in the diagram. Split the group into equal teams. On the whistle players have to dribble around the outside cones. Once they have completed a circuit they then move into the next (nearer the middle) set of cones. This is repeated until they end up in the middle, at which time they go back to their team for the next person to go.

Dribbling Relay

Confusion

Player has to dribble ball one side around middle cone and on the opposite side around the outside cone. Scoring one point on each time around middle cone.

Dribbling Relay

Cross Over Relay

Same principle as normal relays, but now the players have to run across avoiding the other team. If this goes well, introduce another 1 or 2 balls in each team. IMPORTANT that all players keep head up and do not run too fast.

Dribbling Relay

Cross Over Relays

4 teams of two players on each cone. One ball per team. The 1st player in each team has to dribble around the outside of the inside square back to their starting cone to give the ball to the next player.

Dribbling Relay

Crossover Dribble with Lay up

Player 1 dribbles to the line of cones with their right hand and does a crossover dribble and changes to the right hand, at the next line of cones the player switches the ball from their left hand to their right before finishing with a lay up shot.

Dribbling Relay

Dribble Moves Drill

Players take it in turn to dribble from right side of the court, rebound their shot, then go to left side and repeat. The moves are; (i)Cross over dribble. (ii)Spin dribble. (iii)Behind the back dribble. (iv)Hesitation dribble. Finish with a lay up each time.

Dribbling Relay

Dribble Relay

Split the group into equal teams. Set the cones up as shown in the diagram. On the whistle players dribble around the cones, when they reach the end the dribble straight back to the end of the queue. The player then has to roll the ball through the legs of their team to the person at the front of the queue.

Dribbling Relay

Dribble Weave Game

Players in a line about 5-10 ft away from each other. The 1st player with the ball will dribble weave in and out of every one in the line. Once they get back to their original spot they will pass the ball to the person behind them. The rule is that you must go around everyone to get back to your spot.

Dribbling Relay

Figure of 8

Player dribbles the ball in a figure of 8 around the 2 cones, using one hand only.

Dribbling Relay

Foot work relay

Players dribble their way through the cones and go back through the slalom to the begining. Before the next person can go.

Dribbling Relay

Full Court Dribble Drill

Players will dribble up court with their right hand and back with their left hand. To begin with this should be done at a comfortable pace, ensuring players keep the ball under control. However, after a practice run you can then line up your players so that they perform this dribble drill under race pressure.

Dribbling Relay

In and Out Dribble Relay

Split players into equal teams, with each player having a ball. On the command the back player dribbles in and out of the players in front of them until they reach the front of the queue. Once they do the next person goes until they whole team have been. Whilst the players are waiting in the line they should be bouncing their ball up and down.

Dribbling Relay

In and Out full court slalom

Split the group into equal teams. Place cones at regular intervals on the court. On the command players have to dribble in and out of the cones to the end of the slalom before dribbling back through them all to the beginning for the next person to go.

Dribbling Relay

Dribbling Relay

Slalom Dribble Relay

Split the group into equal teams Setup cones at 5m, 10m and 15m. On the command players have to dribble their balls up to, and around, the first cone (5m) before running back to the line and then onto the 10m cone and repeat this until they have gone around all of the cones. Once the player finishes their run they have to run to the back and then roll their ball back through the legs to the first person in the line.

Dribbling Relay

Slalom

Try to dribble through the slaloms as fast as possible.

Dribbling Relay
