10 passes to score

1 team starts with the ball and tries and make 10 consecutive passes. The other team can send 1 or 2 players across to try and win the ball for their side. If the other team wins possession back for their team the roles reverse in other area (10 passes scores a point.)

Group practices

Additional defence

The first team starts with the ball inside the attacking third, with all the other players except one stood outside the area. The aim for the team in the area with the ball is to complete as many sets of 5 passes as possible. Every time they complete 5 passes another defender from outside the area is allowed in to try and intercept the ball. Once all of the defending players have entered the playing area, or after an interception has been made, the teams change over and try to beat the first teams score.

Catch, turn and pass relay

Players work in groups of 4, with 1 ball between them. The first player runs towards the centre The player with the ball throw up a high ball for the receiving player to jump and receive. The receiving player catches the ball, and turns in the air, so they land facing the opposite direction to the player who passed to them (turning 180 degrees). The receiving player then passes the ball, and follows their pass. Drill continues.

Corner Ball - Pass and Drive

Players will recieve the ball from their left to start with. The first players in line A and B start with the ball. The first player in line C drives to the centre cone to recieve the ball from first player in line B. At the same time player 1 in line D drives and recieves the ball. Both players release the ball in the centre and (1) - (2) release the ball to the player opposite them. Repeat...

Group practices

Courtline Passing

Side/backline throw in Place 6 different coloured cones in different places on the side and back lines to signal start position of the throw in. Coach calls out a colour and one of the attackers runs to pick up the ball from this cone. Play until each ball next to the cones has been used (6 times). 1 point if the attackers get the ball to half way (You can give them the option to get to goal if you want, which would be worth 2 points, but having a full court of players could leave the players at the other end being less active). You can also give the defenders a point for successful intercepting

Group practices

Cover Defence: Ball and Hole Game

Two defenders work inside a circle of players with one ball. The red players must pass the ball around the group and try to keep possession. The two defending players must work together to mark the ball, keeping the 3ft distance, while the other defenders 'zones' the space. So, if Red 1 receives the ball, Green 1 (the nearest defender) calls "ball" and goes to cover the ball and Green 2 moves back, calls "hole" and zones the area.

Group practices

Cross overs

Minimum group of 6 - 2 balls. Players 2 have a ball each and pass to players 1, and then cross over to receive, return; cross over to receive, return; cross over to receive, return. Players 1 then toss the ball in the air for players 2 to catch and then become feeders to the number 3 who are now working. Numbers 1 join the back of the lines.

Group practices

Crossroads

White 1 and 3 then do the same, run straight and receive the ball from the left, pass on straight and join the end of the opposite line. Repeat
