Assisted Piked Jump

Working in pairs the gymnast stands with arms horizontal. The supporter stands behind with hands on gymnasts hips. The gymnast flexs knees and hips, swings arms inwards and upwards and drives upwards. The supporter lifts the gymnast to help gain height. the gymnast raises legs to horizontal and touches anckles with hands forming a pike shape. On landing knees and hips flex and arms move to horizontal.

Hanging to Touch Toes

Stretch arms above head and slowly descend until fingers touch the mat. Keep legs straight. Feet should be sufficiently apart to allow pupil to touch the mat with their finger tips. Slowly straighten to stand.

Low Piked Vault

From a short 4m run take off with one foot to land on bench with two feet. Jump to pike useing good arm swing to promote height. Land flexing knees and hips and bringing arms wide to secure landing.

Pike Shape Jump from Trampette.

A fast approach run up. Eyes focus upon the trampette. A long hurdle step. Arms swing upwards at this phase of the skill; then down again as the gymnast impacts the trampette. Rebound firmly as the arms swing upwards to create a stretched long shape. At the top of the flight execute a quick piked shape Eyes look forward and hands lie along ankles. Hip extends to straighten out the body to prepare for landing. On landing flex at hip and knee joints to absorb impact. Recover to stand upright.

From a short run hurdle step to take off from springboard with two feet. Form piked shape during flight. Flex knees and hips on landing.

From long sit raise arms to horizontal. Rock back on to shoulders keeping arms and legs extended to form a pike shape. Touch ankles with hands. Rock forward to long sit

Short four meter run to jump off two feet. Form pike shape during flight Bring right arm under left arm to aid rotation and half-twist. Flex knees and hips on landing.

From long lie raise extended arms and legs until hands touch ankles forming a 'pike' shape.

From a standing position spring upwards and raise extended legs to horizontal. Bring arms to touch feet forming a piked shape. Bring arms wide to secure landing.
