Gymnastics Drill Demonstration

Description

  • Working in pairs the gymnast stands with arms horizontal.
  • The supporter stands behind with hands on gymnasts hips.
  • The gymnast flexs knees and hips, swings arms inwards and upwards and drives upwards.
  • The supporter lifts the gymnast to help gain height.
  • the gymnast raises legs to horizontal and touches anckles with hands forming a pike shape.
  • On landing knees and hips flex and arms move to horizontal.

    Coaching points

  • Keep head up and eyes forward.
  • Ensure that legs gain horizontal position and are fully extended.
  • Reach forward and grasp feet with hands.
  • Ensure good balance on landing by moving arms to horizontal.
