How do I build power in my jump shot?

My shot isn't hard when i am throwing on a jumpshot

Hi Sebastiaan,

Power in a jump shot stems from a sound technique. To build power in your shots, you must initially develop the perfect technique to be able to generate the power with your body. 

Follow this drill to get tips on how to generate power all the way from your feet, through your legs and up into your core, before actually throwing with your arm and wrist. Look at power development as a holistic process that needs your whole body to work together efficiently to be able to generate the most power.

Description:

Jump shot
- during forward run bring up the ball to shoulder height
- third step is explosive and large
- in the air the hip should go backward together with the throwing arm
- pull up other leg untill upper leg is horizontal
- screw back the hip
- the arm follows this movement explosively to the front
- point after the ball where it should go
- land on the same leg as you jumped off


left hander : right foot for jump off
right hander : left foot for jump off

variations :
- 1,2,3 step rhythm
- jump off with your 'wrong' leg
