DESCRIPTION

The three cone drill is a test of agility, the ability to stop, start and change direction of the body or body parts rapidly and in a controlled manner.

Set Up:

You need three cones placed in a L shape as shown in the diagram, the distance between the cones is 5 yards or 4.6m.

You will need a stopwatch to time the participants efforts.

COACHING POINTS

Procedure:

The participant starts in a 3 point stance behind the start line.

On the starters call the participant runs to the first cone, touching the line between the two cones with their right hand.

The participant then turns and sprints back to the starting line again bending and touching it with their right hand.

The participant then sprints through the first cone again turning toward the top cone.

Without stopping the participant goes around the top cone through the bottom gate while sprinting through the starting/finishing line.

The best time from two efforts is recorded.
