DESCRIPTION

The 300 yard shuttle run is a test of anaerobic capacity. Anaerobic capacity is the maximal rate of energy production by the combined phosphagen and lactic acid energy systems for moderate duration activities.

Set Up:

You will need a stop watch, and two parallel lines 25 yards (22.86m) apart on a flat surface.

COACHING POINTS

Procedure:

Pair two participants of equal ability (however you can do this as individuals or in bigger groups).

Have the participants starting behind the start line, facing the opposite line.

On the starters call the participants sprint towards the other line, they must make foot contact with the other line before they can begin the return trip.

The participants must look to make 6 trips between the two lines as fast as possible (6x50yds=300yds).

After completing the first effort they have a 5 minute rest before they start their second trial.

The best time between the two efforts is recorded.
