Make a Tic-Tac-Toe "board" with spray-paint, cones or rope.
Divide players into 2 teams. Each team to have 5 props (balls/cones/beanbags) which are a different colour to the opposite team.
At the whistle, the first player from each side runs to place a prop inside a block on the board.
The next player from a team may only go once his/her teammate is back.
The main objective of the game is to make a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line of three props in a row.
The three options a player has are:
Line - to place a prop in such a way as to get a line of 3 in a row.
block - to place a prop in such a way as to stop the opposition from making a line.
Steal - when it is a players turn, they run without a prop but rather steal 1 of the oppositions props and return it to the opposition, therefore effectively blocking a potential line by the opposition.
The first team to get a row wins.
This promotes teamwork. By discussing before a player runs out, the team can decide what the best option is. Communication, clear and calm, is important.
This also promotes thinking at a high speed. Speed is essential, but making the right decision at speed is crucial.
Adaptability - if a player runs out with a prop but is beaten to their target square by the opposition, they need to adapt their line or change to block.
