DESCRIPTION

Objectives:

  • Acceleration and deceleration development
  • Pivot Step and Cross-over Step development
  • Side shuffle movement development
  • Change of Direction

COACHING POINTS

Straight Line- 3 cone drill

  1. The athlete accelerates to red cone, decelerates into a split stance; the athlete then reacelerates to orange cone and decelerates into a split stance
  2. The athlete sprints to orange cone, decelerates into a split stance; the athlete then turns 180 degrees and sprints past red cone.
  3. The athlete starts facing sideways; the athlete turns to red cone using Pivot Step or Cross-over Step and accelerates past red cone.
  4. The athlete starts facing sideways; the athlete then side shuffles to red cone, back to green cone, turns using Pivot Step or Cross-over Step to accelerate past orange cone.
