When would a dive shot be used in handball and how does it benefit a teams performance?

A dive shot is mostly performed by players who want to avoid the defenders close to the circle line. They want to get as close to the goal as possible to improve scoring chances.

Sometimes a jumpshot takes too much time and is more easily to defend than a diveshot, which can hardly be defended. Pivots mostly receive the balls from other players in very close spaces and they have little time and space , of course to get a scoring moment. In this case a diveshot is the best technique to score a goal.

Special jumpdiveshots are used by wing players, by the way.
