Instep first touch - Stage 6 (backward)

1 Ball between two players. One player feeds and catches the ball the other player has to play the ball back with the instep of the kicking foot. Both players should be moving backwards and forward saying the same distance apart at all time

Taking only one step before striking the ball, players should pass using the instep of both their feet - left and right.

Keepy Ups - 1 (front angle)

Players have a ball each and must try to perform one keep up, dropping the ball from waist height and then kicking the ball back into their hands with the lower laces part of their boot.

Players have a ball each and must try to perform one keep up, dropping the ball from waist height and then kicking the ball back into their hands with the lower laces part of their boot.

Keepy Ups - 2

Players have a ball each and must try to perform one keep and then let the ball bounce before repeating this skill. To start players drop the ball from waist height and then kick the ball back towards themselves with the lower laces part of their boot. They then allow the ball to bounce and then gently kick the ball up again. Continue this for as long as possible (players can keep count to see if they beat their personal best!)

Keepy Ups - 3

Players have a ball each and must try to perform two keepy ups, dropping the ball from waist height and then kicking the ball twice with the same foot. The second kick should be targeted back into their hands with the lower laces part of their boot. Try performing the double kicks with both feet. Two left feet keep ups and catch followed by two right feet kick ups and catch the ball.

Players have a ball each and must try to perform two keepy ups, dropping the ball from waist height and then kicking the ball once with each foot. The second kick should be targeted back into their hands with the lower laces part of their boot. Practice with a variety of combinations: Right then left foot Left then right foot Left and left foot Right and right foot

Keepy Ups - 5 - Alternate feet

Using alternate feet players should try and repeatedly keep the ball up in the air. To do so the ball should land on the flat of the foot and be gently kicked in front of the player, ideally without having to step away from where they are stood.

Lofted pass

Lofted passes are great for clearing your lines, switching play or dinking the ball over the top to a striker who is making a run behind the other team's defensive line. Approach the ball at a slight angle, back swing of leg (using arms for balance) and follow through with your pass.

In pairs one player throws and catches the ball the other player receives the ball with his chest and plays the ball back with a volley. While both players are moving.

Single step Over - Game related

Ball between 2 passer of the ball follows the ball towards the player receiving the ball. The players receiving the ball has to try and beat the player with the skill learned

Single step over - Stage 1

This is the first stage of a sequence of practices for the player to learn a skill with a step out as part of it. The player moves on the spot (happy feet) with a ball in front of them on a whistle or command they step over the ball and return to happy feet

Single step over and drag

The player steps out with one foot the the side of the ball. Their other leg then moves around the ball. The ball is then moved with with the original step out leg (outside of the foot) to beat the opponent.

In this practice the player steps out then steps over the ball to then take the ball into the same direction with the instep of the opposite foot to the step over leg and beat the opponent

In this practice the defender passes the ball to the player practising the skill. The receiving player steps out then steps over the ball to then take the ball into the same direction with the instep of the opposite foot to the step over leg and beat the opponent. Both players then reverse roles when returning to the cones.
