Goalkeeping is a technical position. Having the correct technique will help with the simple saves as well as the trickier ones - work on their basic from hand positioning and leg movements to create a foundation for a top keeper to grow on.

Description

  • 3 servers, 2 balls
  • Server 1 plays the ball to the goalkeeper, the goalkeeper catches the ball and then plays it to the server without the ball
  • Server 2 then plays the ball and the goalkeeper returns the ball to server 1

Coaching points

  • The goalkeeper needs to move their feet fast to get into line with the server.
  • The goalkeeper needs to have feet pointing towards the server and shoulder width apart.
  • The goalkeeper should not allow the hands to drop
