Soccer: Waves Of Attack

DESCRIPTION

Setup:

Full half field, central channel which the first attacking team starts in. Waves of attack vs defence.

Explanation:

• The ball starts with the coach who plays to the greens and are trying to score. If they score in the direction they are attacking, they turn and return to the middle and attack the other team
• If they miss the target or the attack breaks down they must swap with the defending team and that defending team now becomes the attacking team
• Counting scores i.e goals scored. Working with 4 players being desperate to disrupt the attack and get the chance to be the attackers. If defending team win the ball they must find the middle area with a player in there to get the chance to attack

COACHING POINTS

4 (CMD)

• Can you help the 10s with instructions on when to press and who should press the ball?

10 (ACM)

• Same coaching points above + the following;
• Can you manipulate where the ball carrier plays the ball if you can press but not win the ball directly?
• Can you work together with the 9,7,11 to hunt down the ball without exposing our defence and pushing too many players forward

9 (FW)

• Same coaching points above + the following;
• Can you work with the 8,10,7,11 to hunt down the ball together?

2/3s (WBKs)

• Can you force the ball carrier inside to our numbers if you can not directly win the ball back ?
• Can you be in a position to provide a pressing overload on the ball carrier?

All players

• Can you prevent the ball carrier from playing a forward pass?
