Rounders: Backward hit

DESCRIPTION

When the ball is hit behind the line the batter is allowed to run to the 1st post but is not allowed to continue to 2nd until the ball has crossed the line back into play.

It is best that the backstop retrieves the ball and walks it back instead of throwing it back into play.

Batter in:

The batter is in if they touch the base before the fielder does with the ball. This clip shows you a batter doing so.

Rules

Batter run out:

The batter is out if the fielder touches the post immediately ahead with the ball or the hand holding the ball while the batter is running to the post and before the batter has touched the post, except first post in case of a no-ball.

Rules

Back stop:

The position of the back stop can be close or far behind the batter. The positioning helps the batter decide where to bowl.

Skills

3 ball round the clock:

Setup: 4 players stand in a diamond with 3 balls. A 5th player stands in the middle.

To start the drill 1 of the outside players throw their ball to the player in the middle who has to return the ball the player who did not have a ball before the ball was thrown.

The middle player then rotates to receive the next ball and the drill continues in this way.
