What's in the Session?
To get your players' feet moving, making sharp interceptions we open with a warm up designed to improve your players' reactions, getting them to time their drive and snatch the ball. We then get your players running hard, working on their acceleration off the mark to see if they're able to read the pass and intercept the ball.
Be sharp, read the pass and drive to make the interception!
What's so important about interceptions?
Winning the ball is a key skill for all netball players. Without the ball you can't win! Also, the less the opposition have the ball the less chance they have of scoring.
Develop your player's ability to get free and move into space to receive the ball effectively under pressure, ensuring they lose their defender to maintain possession.
Develop your players ability to create and penetrate space, working as a unit to provide offers for the ball carrier.
Help your players master the basic ball control skills to move onto executing more complex and advanced skills as players develop their knowledge and playing abilities.
Develop your players ability to close down space for the opposition to increase your team's chances of gaining possession of the ball.
Build upon your player's team cohesion, in particular focusing on their passing and communication skills to keep possession of the ball.
