Wes, Rugby Coach

DESCRIPTION

Ask the children to squat down low and make a light ball. Emphasise head and elbows in / arms pulling tightly around the knees. Choose some children to demonstrate.

Ask is there another way you can curl up in a ball ?. Next, ask the children to stretch up as high as possible - emphasise strong bodies / stretched fingers and feet, reach for the roof ?

COACHING POINTS

  • Children who find it hard to curl up should be encouraged to get as close to the floor as comfortable.
  • Ask the children to demo how the different body parts can be changed on the floor when they are curled up - e.g. Back Side, knees, shoulders and bottom.
