Set up two lines, one for the for the defending players (red) and the other for the attacking players (blue) who have one ball. When the coach blows their whistle both players run around their respective cones (shown in diagram). After the blue player has made their way around the cone another player in the offensive players' line passes the ball to them. After they've run round the cones players play out the 1 vs 1.

The dribbler will use the ball screen, this situation the dribblers defender has gone under the screen. The dribbler is going to stop on top of the screen and shoot a jump shot.

The player will dribble down to the level of the ball screen. Once they get in line with the screen, the ball handler will dribble backwards simulating that the screen is being hedged by the screeners defender. Once the dribbler has gone backwards they will then attack again getting 1 or 2 dribble separation to shoot a jump shot.

Players start out in the corner on either side of the court. Set up 2 cones in front of the players. The 1st cone 15 ft away. The 2nd cone 30 ft away. There will also be a chair 18-20 ft away from the basket. Players dribble to the 1st cone and perform a change of direction dribble. Player then dribbles around the 2nd cone and then dribbles at speed towards the chair. When they reach the chair they should quickly change direction, move and attack the basket where they will finish with a lay-up.

Bench Walk and Dribble

Dribbling the ball in one hand whilst straddling a bench. Walk half the length of the bench and sit down, dribbling the ball the whole time. Whilst sitting down, place the non-dribbling hand behind the back and bounce the ball over the bench, transferring the dribbling hand to the other side Stand up and continue dribblind down the length of the bench.

Have a chair set up about 18-20 feet away from the basket. You can set the chair up on either side of the court. The purpose of the drill is to teach players to go at speed, beat their defender with a dribble move then go into a shot.

Copy Cat

Each player has a ball each. The teacher / coach nominates a person to be the leader. That person is allowed to dribble and move anywhere on the court and the others have to copy their every move. The leader can use dribbling with either hand, between the legs, behind the back, crab dribble, spin dribble, sit down on the floor and keep the ball alive.

Two players with 1 ball One player starts in front with another behind, with a ball. The player in front has to hold up some fingers for the dribbling player to call out. Change roles after 1 minute.

Setup the practice as shown. White player 1 and Blue Player 1 begin to dribble in a diamond shape as shown. One must try and catch up with the other to tag them. Keep score.

Two groups of players with two balls. Players 1 and 2 dribble towards each other, in the middle they stop and exchange balls before passing to the next player in the line.

Dribble Moves Against a Chair

This drill can be moulded to fit the coaches session focus. The chair is simulating a defender. The players dribble up to the chair and use different change of direction moves. Moves that players use can include crossover, behind the back, through the legs or a spin dribble. Look for them to beat the chair as if it were a defender. After the move the players can finish with a series of shots such as lay-up, power move, bank shot, jump shot and reverse lay-up.

Player dribbles towards the basket, performs a spin dribble. He then continues to the middle of the court, performs a cross-over dribble, then dribbles to the elbow for a jump shot.

Players are restricted to a pre-specified area. All are dribbling. With their free hand they try to knock each others ball away and out of the area.

Players in a line about 5-10 ft away from each other. The 1st player with the ball will dribble weave in and out of every one in the line. Once they get back to their original spot they will pass the ball to the person behind them. The rule is that you must go around everyone to get back to your spot.

Player dribbles the ball on the spot. On the signal they must put their non-dribbling hand on the floor and dribble around in a circle.

High Ball Screen- Jump Shot

Shooters will line up with a basketball each. The player with the ball will dribble away from the screen at first and also to get level to have a better angle to use the screen. The players will dribble off the screen to get seperation when they are 1 or 2 dribbles away from the screen the player will stop and shoot a jump shot.
