REACTION AND AGILITY SKILL: Aim: To test reaction time and speed. Using x4 markers (blue, green, red and white markers), coach will call out a colour. The player will start in the middle cone and then run to the colour using the correct direction (Move laterally to the side or backwards to the back) and touch the marker. Once the marker has been touched, they will run back to the middle. There will be 10 call outs of colours then move onto the next player. NOTE: While other players are waiting, they will be doing active recovery. Progression: Coach can progress this skill by increasing the speed of the colours being called out and can also throw a footy into the mix, meaning the player will now have to manoeuvre the ball and touch the marker with the cone, this adds in object manipulation. Regression: Coach can regress this skill by removing x2 cones leaving only two coloured cones for the player to run to. Coach can also decrease the speed of calling the coloured markers out. Session 1 of 3: After session is complete athletes will have a 60 minute break before session 2 begins. Break to refuel and recover for the next session. Also a time for athletes to come to me if they need one on one help or advice in a specific area. Athletes must ensure they are including active recovery into this break to ensure their muscles are still warm for the next session.
