This is a pairs offense with a heavy pick and roll game as the ball is passed around the perimeter, a number will be called out (ex: 23, 16, 54) the first number called out is the ball carrier the second number called out is the pick man the other two sets of pairs will exchange adjacently to keep the off ball defenders busy the 2nd number called out must dive to the crease before coming and setting a pick for the dodger the dodger must time up his dodge with the pick man for optimal results if they double the initial dodger, he flips it quickly to the pick man who re-attacks the defense causing a 5 on 4 in the offenses favor if they fail to switch effectively, we must make them pay by dodging hard off of every pick and going to cage this offense relies on the pass-dodge principle since everything is set up in groups of 2 meaning if one pick and roll doesn't work we can pass it to the next set of pairs and they can immediately run their 2 man game
make sure to exchange off ball with your pairs partner, we don't want 2 players playing offense and 4 guys watching make sure you always open up to the dodger after you set your pick because the ball could be flipped to you right away make sure we are using our field space effectively, this offense doesn't work if everybody is cramped in the box and doesn't have space to work with don't be afraid to repick if the first dodge attempt doesn't work. the dodger can keep the ball and just dodge off of a second pick if the first one was unsuccessful if at first the pick and roll doesn't work, try it again, and again, avoid running a pick and roll with 2 poles, let's pick on the SSDM with little/little big/little matchups don't be afraid to slip some picks and set fake picks, always keep the defense guessing back cuts are super effective in this offense it is very important to come from the crease area as you want to set a "blind pick" where the on ball defender can't see you coming
