The Yo Yo intermittent tests participants aerobic capacity also called aerobic power which is the maximum rate at which an athlete can produce energy through oxidation of energy resources. Set Up: The main area is 20m in length and there is a 5m recovery area behind the start line. You need the recovery test which can be played through a sound system. A some paper to record the level that the participants are able to achieve.
Procedure: The participants line up behind the start line (the number of participants depends on the testers ability to accuractely record a set number). The test begins with a signal to indicate to the participant to begin. The participant will hear three bleeps, the first to start them the second sounds half way through and the final bleep is when the participant must complete their shuttle. The objecive is for the participant to cover the set distance before the third bleep. At the end of each shuttle there is a recovery period of either 5 or 10 seconds depending on if it is the Yo-Yo intermittent recovery or ednurance test. When the participant fails to get back before the third bleep they recieve a warning, the next time they will be out of the test.
