The standing long jump is used to test maximum muscular power (High-Speed Strength). This related to the ability of muscle tissues to exert high force while contracting at a high speed, requiring an explosive action. Set Up: Have a clear area and have a clear starting line in place, for example you can place down some tape or as the diagram suggests two cones. You will need a measuring tape and something to mark where the participant has landed, measuring from the back of the foot, the nearest point to the starting line.
Procedure: The participant has to start stading as close as possible to the starting line without having any part of their foot over the line. The participant performs a countermovement and then jumps forward as far as possible. For the distance to count the participant must land of their feet. Measure the distance from the back edge of the participants rearmost heel. Three jumps are carried out and measured to the nearest cm.
