Inform your class that we are going to be starting our unit focused on movement skills involving the control of objects with our feet. Activity 1: Inside Kick: Have students pick their bean bags up and drop. As the bean bag falls have them practice kicking the bean bag with the instep of their foot. Explain this is a commonly used hacky sack maneuver. If students are successful they can try to keep it multiple times with their instep or kick it with their instep and catch it. Activity 2: Outside Kick: Students drop the bean bag and practice kicking it with the outside of their foot. This is also known as a scorpion kick. Activity 3: Behind the back: Have students throw the bean bag over their shoulder and see if they can make contact by kicking their leg out behind them. This will be challenging so don`t spend too much time with this technique. Activity 4: Keep up: Students drop bag and see how many times they can keep it up in the air using both feet. Activity 5: Pick up: Students must roll the bean bag on to their foot and flick the bean bag in the air to begin juggling. (Tell them this is how they should be getting the bean bag up when they start playing with others. Activity 6: Partner Keep up: In pairs of two students try to keep the bean bag in the air as many times as they can. Activity 7: Circle Keep: In groups of 4 see how many times the bean bag can be kept in the air. Make it a competition between groups and try to even out the teams and keep a record of which teams are the winners. Activity 8: Four Square: Group students based on ability and have them play a game of 4 square with a hacky sack. When a player makes a mistake and drops the hacky sack or makes an errand pass they go back to D and every player moves up a space. The player who spends the most time in A is the winner.
