DESCRIPTION

PRE-SESSION WARMUP: 5 Minutes

Players will jog 1 lap of the field to warm up and do 5 minutes of stretching (both dynamic and static) from their 60 minute break. Players were told to ensure active recovery was included in their break.

SINGLE LEG, ONE HANDED CATCH: Aim: To test players coordination skills

Players will stand in between 4 different coloured cones. A player or coach will call out the one of the 2 colours, and the player will be stood on one leg and have to bend down and touch the coloured cone. When the player rises up, they will be thrown a ball and will need to catch it. This focuses on hand-eye coordination.

Progression: To progress this move, the coach or player throwing the ball could increase the distance of the ball being thrown, or increase the speed of ball being thrown.

Regression: To regress this skill, the coach could remove the ball meaning there is no object manipulation, this decreases coordination.

Session 2 of 3:

After session is complete athletes will have a 90 minute break before session 3 begins. 30 minutes for lunch and the full 60 minutes to recover.

Break to refuel and recover for the next session. Also a time for athletes to come to me if they need one on one help or advice in a specific area.

Athletes must ensure they are including active recovery into this break to ensure their muscles are still warm for the next session.
