What can we expect?

Host nation Brazil go into the tournament as hot favourites, and will be backed by a fiery crowd in all of their games, and the expectation of the largest country in South America is that they will add to their record haul of 5 World Cups (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002). The hosts also won the Confederations Cup in 2013, which was also hosted in Brazil.

Current World Champions Spain, however, can not be ruled out, particularly having won the last World Cup (2010) along with the last two European Championships (2008, 2012), and they will hope that their large contingent of Barcelona players can put a disappointing domestic season behind them and help their country to their second World Cup in a row.

Argentina will also be expected to thrive in their home continent, with star man Lionel Messi expected to shine in a side that also contains Manchester City's free-scoring striker Sergio Aguero. Germany, meanwhile, go into the tournament as third favourites, while Belgium are also ranked as having an outside chance of surprising a few people.
