England's men may have been booted out of the football World Cup less than a week into the tournament, but the country has finally seen some sporting glory as England's women's rugby team took the World Cup title in France last night (August 17).

Beating Canada 21-9, the Red Roses lifted the trophy at the Stade Jean-Bouin in Paris in front of a near capacity crowd.

The team last took the title in 1994, having reached three consecutive finals in 2002, 2006 and 2010 - losing each time to New Zealand.

We think this is great news for English sport and for women in sport in general - we hope this will inspire your teams in the coming season.
