Playing the Ball Out From the Back
The ?modern way? is to play out from the back. To be able to do it successfully though, you need your defenders to be comfortable on the ball when looking to pass, dribble and scan the pitch.
3 players stand around 3 metres apart from one another with one ball between them.
They can pass in either direction and should start with two touch football, using strong side footed passes.
After a few minutes you can introduce a one touch rule to encourage players to think about where they are going to pass before they even receive the ball.
Increase the distance between your players and use different passes such as the lofted pass and driven pass (kicking with the laces).
Drill tags: control, first touch, triangle passing
