Handball: Number game

This is the best handball site I have visited.

DESCRIPTION

Before the game starts both teams number themselves from 1 - 5 (or more dependant on number of players).

The team in possession must then pass the ball around in a numeric order whilst trying not to lose possession

The team in possession scores a point when all players on their team have had the ball once.

Meanwhile the other team tries to intercept the ball.

COACHING POINTS

To being with players can only mark their opposite number but once players are a little more warmed up open up the game so that players are free to do what they want (as long as they continue to pass in numerical order).

OFTEN USED WITH...

Mini handball:

Two teams, each with goalkeepers, play across a half-court sized pitch.

Play with normal rules.

team ball with player in enemy zone:

Two playing areas, two teams.
One player of each team goes into 'enemy' area.
One ball.
Team in possession passes around 3 times before passing to the player in the 'enemy' zone.

variations :
- use certain passing techniques
- pass around more than 3 times

Team possession - Neutral player game:

Two equal number teams and one neutral player work inside a half court area.

The neutral players is always on the side of the team in possession so effectively if your side is in possession you have an extra player.

Meanwhile the other team has to try and intercept the ball.

number passing:

Two teams, every team has a player in the 'enemy' zone.
playing around in a strict numeral order.
Player 1 to player number 2 etc.
One point when all players got the ball.

variations :
- play with bounce pass
- use certain passing technique
- pass after 1 or 2 times dribbling
- make area larger/smaller
- don't pass back to the player you got the ball from
