DESCRIPTION

3 puck - 1 V 1 battle with outlet passing Drill begins with players at the top of the circle/ the coach places a puck in the corner the red player (Offence) and blue (Defence) enters to battle, the Offence player is trying to get a pass off to the front of the net for a shot on net. The defence player is trying to make an outlet pass up the boards to the coach on the half wall. Once a pass is made each player races to the face off dot, and re-enters the battle zone for the second puck. The drill is repeated 3 times for 3 clean passes. The player who makes 2 or 3 passes takes over in front of the net (Offence) to shoot on the goalie. Loosing player moves to the cones and does 4 figure 8 bag skates

COACHING POINTS

Players need to move with the puck and make clean hard passes. Skate the puck out of danger or if required or make a good hard quick pass. Do not throw the puck away. Body position is key for puck protection. The player who does not have the puck needs to make sure to interrupt the pass or quickly get the puck back. Player in front of the net needs to be shooting on the goalie to score. Get a quick rebound for a goal if time allows before the next battle. If the Defenceman wins the battle and makes a pass up the boards to the coach the coach can shoot the puck on net or makes a pass out front to the offence player. All players need to dig in and preform at high tempo to mimic a game
