COACHING POINTS

This tactic to win the ball back when it is in dispute can only work if1. We make crumb gathering a special feature of our game (Front and Square)2. We always keep the ball in front of us in a marking contests3. We contest every issue with great determination and aggression4. When scouting for crumbs, don't play too close to packs and watch the players contesting the ball to better anticipate the direction the ball will land5. Crumbing players communicate with the man in the contest (Your mark Connie or I'm down in front Tim) Variations and ExtensionsWhen indoors ball can be thrown from position A rather than kickedDefenders can be progressively added 1, 2 then 3 to increase complexity of drill
