Linsent, Tennis coach

DESCRIPTION

Players start off in doubles alley and move along the baseline hitting 2 forehands.

COACHING POINTS

As players move sideways they must take the last step towards the ball at contact. In this drill the coach feeds the ball from the basket for every shot the player needs to make.

You can vary the feed in a number of ways:

  • By varying the speed of the feed and the timing between the feeds.
  • Vary the position of where the coach feeds from (i.e. if the coach feeds from 1 the ball would be coming into the body whereas if the feed was to come from position 3 the ball would be coming across the body creating different problems for the players returning the ball). It is very important when changing the angle of the feed to try and make each feed as realistic to the game of tennis. Try to think where the ball might come from and what the next shot could be.
