why is my javalin landing flat
Your gripping the Javelin too tight and you may be releasing too late. Try releasing at about a 40 - 45 degree angle. Check your grip is not too tight (when you hold the javelin, try and remove it from the grip with your free hand.. You should not need to "break" any fingers to release it)slide from grip easily..
