This plan's goal is to improve your players' technique and ability to form a powerful maul, which can be used as a great attacking weapon.
It's imperative you give your players clear roles and responsibilities within the maul, as this will help your team use it, rather than lose it. With this plan you'll be able to coach your players how to create, secure and defend a maul.
What's in the Session?
To keep the positive momentum going in the maul, with all your players using good technique and staying on their feet we warm up with a game of Touch Maul. We then get your players mauling in small groups, practising driving past the defender, before bringing proceedings to a close with two conditioned games!
By the end of this session your players will have improved their technique when mauling and learnt when this technique is required during a game.
