Derek Mazepa Coach, United States of America

DESCRIPTION

Station 1: break out-2 on 1 coach dumps puck into either corner-D chases down puck-skates behind net-stops. Passes around the boards (either side) to F on hash marks. D skates out of zone, around cone, transitons to backwards as a defender. F catches pass-(BOTH Forwards skate out of zone) around cone-creating a 2 on 1. When finished, have players skate hard out of the zone so the next group can go. Try and stress that this is a "breakout" scenario to start the drill. Adjusting their own timing and speed is also important. STATION 2: 2 vs 2: players line up as shown. Both "X" and "O" start skating towards zone. Coach Makes a pass to either one of the groups. That group is now Offense and is trying to score. Other group becomes Defense and is trying to get puck out of zone. Can also be done as a 3 on 3 if enough players are present.
