DESCRIPTION

Blue Drill: 1. Break up players and match two players of equal speed. Race threw the pylons, making sure to edge properly. On final pylon, players not only go around pylon but make sure not to collade together. Battle to get the puck. 2. Kids battle each other till one scores. Red Drill: Players skates around pylons using proper edging techniques. Keep turns tight and agressive. Jump over the sticks with both feet. A. Receive a pass from coach and skate around last cone, make sure to stick handle not push the puck. D. Shoot on net and skate to last station and complete a full stop. Try to cover pylon in snow. F. Skate backwards to the end and redo course.

COACHING POINTS

Blue Drill: Edging, sharp turns making sure players keep both skates on the ice and turn using the edges. The puck control and batlle with ice awareness as the battle to score. Red Drill: Edging, sharp turns making sure players keep both skates on the ice and turn using the edges. Balance when jumping over sticks. Puck control on receiving a pass and shooting the puck. Proper stopping methods and then backwards skating.
