Judes 2011 Girls Coach, Ireland

DESCRIPTION

Preparation: Set up as many pitches as you need for your numbers. If you have an odd number put a coach in an extra large goal. No need for keepers (unless they insist). Before throwing in the ball ask them what do they have to do if they are running with the ball and how many steps can they take between bounces and solos. Tell them a point is worth 3 points and a goal is worth 1 point. If the same players are dominating introduce a rule where everybody on the team has to touch the ball before they can score. When rucks develop freeze the play and restart by giving a non dominant player a favourable ball.

COACHING POINTS

Keep an eye out for players who are struggling with certain skillsets. When the ball is down the far end of the pitch coach the player on the skillset. When they jump on the ball on the ground ask them are they allowed to do that or do they have to be on their feet when picking up the ball.
