
Setup: One player acting as goalkeeper. One player on the edge of the small box, at the front/center. One player 25-30 yards out acting as the striker. Drill: The striker will drive the ball straight the player on the edge of the square at a moderate speed. The player at the square is attempting to shield the goalkeepers view of the ball until the last possible instant before moving aside. The goalkeeper must attempt to stop the shot.
Focus: This is another reaction speed building drill therefore the speed of the incoming ball should be altered until the goalkeeper attains a reasonable level of success. The goalkeeper should make every attempt to gain a view of the incoming ball and/or practice reading the obstructing player as they move aside. Duration: 10 balls. Modification: Vary the placement of the incoming ball(s) with the player on the edge of square constantly adjusting to obstruct vision.
