Setup: Place two cones 30 yard from the goal, spaced evenly with the goalposts. One player at each cone and one in the goal. Drill: Players at the cones alternate strikes in to the goalkeeper. The strike should be harder than a pass but not as hard as a real shot attempt. The goalkeeper will deflect the incoming ball, lift/recover the ball and return it to the striker before returning to a central position in the goal and assuming the âreadyâ stance.
Focus: Deflections should always be away from goal (right and left, not forward). Recovery of the ball and clearance should be done at pace. Duration: 10 balls total, 5 per side. Modification: Strike to the feet. Clearance strikes come from the same side as the deflection.
