Setup: Place 5 cones in a line, 1-1.5 yards between each. One player each side, perpendicular to the line of cones and 25-20 yards away. Last player at one end of the 5 cones to start the drill. Drill: The player in the middle begins the drill by entering the space between 2 cones, facing out, and assuming the âReadyâ position. An overhead toss is sent in, the player âattacksâ the space and leaps for the ball and returns the ball with a hand-pass. The middle player then performs an about-face, advances to the next opening and repeats on the other side. Continue to the end of the cones and return then rotate out.
Focus: The player in the middle should be consistently attacking the ball. Returning to the next gap should be sharply executed and end with a quick turn. The middle player should completely leave the ground to catch the ball and protect the catch with the hurl. Duration: 2 rotations Modification: Middle player hand-passes with alternate hands every turn.
