Setup: Place two cones 20-25 yards from the goal spaced evenly with the goalposts. One player at each cone, one in the goal. Drill: The player in the goal begins the drill by âworking the arcâ (side-step) to either goalpost and receiving an inbound pass by the player at the cone on that side. They return the pass, reset to the center before moving immediately to the other side, receive and return the pass, repeat. Returned passes should be struck on the same side; left-handed strike at the left post, right-handed at the right.
Focus: All movement from the center/ready position should work a defensive arc and be executed in side-step. The player should be on the balls of the foot during the side-step and ready position, being careful not to cross the feet. Duration: 1 minute Modification: If no goal available, set two cones up 7 yards apart and another pair, aligned with the first, 20-25 yards away. Strike to the feet.
