What is the best way for GK throwing in to GD from the goal line. I find GD ends up receiving a pass just a short distance from the GK. When we could make so much more of the space. but I can't seem to stop her running straight at the GK. Thanks AP
so i take it she is breaking too early. very common at that age (and most so it seems...lol). i have had to spend a great deal of time teaching kids about not breaking too early, and practicing throwins to teach them to be patient and to wait until the person throwing in has set up their position. try doing basic drills of backline thowins and everytime someone breaks too early the whole team goes for a run, or does push ups. its amazing how much quicker they start learning when the consequence is that...lol the other option you could do is set up the WD on the throw in side of the circle so that she is another option for it and have the C in the center third ready to offer the last option with a hard break forward.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
