2 new year 5 players in a team are low on confidence

I have two brand new players in a year 5 team, they have never played before, are very shy and seem afraid to get involved in the game. How do I build their confidence to get involved and what positions would be best to introduce them to to start with? Thanks

I would say that the wing positions are much less pressured than the goals, the sense of failure in goal is very immediate if a team scores against you or you miss a goal and the other team gets the rebound so this could destroy confidence if they do not have much already. I would also say that the wing positions give you the best opportunity to see them in action and decide if they would be best to try attack or defence.

There is a danger they will not participate though so lots of encouragement and praise when they get the ball and lots of hype and excitement about the game in general will eventually get them interested. As a shy player when I was younger I would say sometimes it just takes a bit of time but if they see everyone else excited and positive they should get the desire to be a part of it all.

When I first start netball I had low confidence. Mainly because I didn't no the team, so maybe some social days out or something. Also the other reason is that I kept on thinking I was worst then everybody else because if they pass it to me I might drop it and then they wouldn't throw it to me again which made me never try for it. Also becauce I was scared of getting hurt. If they are make them image it is someone they hate the guts out of like a bother, a bully (it may sound werid but it does work because some of my team mates last year had the same problem)  Another reason is because they don't get enough praise or support from the team. Also make the game fun

I would say put them in a wing positions or if the competion is for fun roate them around and see what position they are excellent at.
