Tips for a coach new to golf?

I've recently started coaching a high school class. Are there any tips or advice for a new coach? Perhaps some fun drills for younger players?

Hi Steven,

You will of course want to keep it fun for the children while also improving their technique. I've attached a good drill that you could use that would be fun for the children, and a good thing to do would be to point out ways they can improve their technique during the drill.

Good luck!

Description: SET-UP:
On the practice area, mark out a 'fairway' using cones. Set up a hitting area behind the 'fairway'.

ACTIVITY:
In turn team members try to hit their ball from the hitting area onto the fairway. Winner is the team with the most balls on the fairway.
Coaching Points: CHANGES

Easier: Wider Fairways.

Harder: Narrower fairways, out of bounds area and hazards e.g. water.

Remember to be patient with your players, particularly if they are new to golf. You will be there to guide them and make them better players, so take your time, even if their technique isn't working
