DESCRIPTION

In this practice the players split into groups of 3. The player in the middle has to practice the the skill of step over turn before passing on the ball .

COACHING POINTS

The player receives the ball with their kicking foot then step over the ball with the other foot that will drag the ball round to the other direction.

  • in this case the right foot steps over and then drags the ball with the outside of the foot to change direction.
    The player then turns and passes the ball.

    Step over drag turn - Stage 5 (3 man rotation):

    The middle player performs a step over turn before passing on the ball.

    The player receives the ball with their kicking foot, steps over the ball with their other foot. It is with this step-over foot that the player drags the ball round to the other direction.

    In this stage add the drag back of the ball.

    Step over drag turn - Stage 4:

    In pairs pass the ball to the player who receives the ball with his first touch to play the ball away from a imaginary defender (towards 12 o'clock)

    then steps over the ball and drags the ball towards the opposite direction (7 o'clock)

    Step over drag turn - Stage 1:

    This is the first stage of a sequence of practices for the player to learn a skill with the step over as part of it.
    The player moves on the spot (happy feet) with a ball in front of them on a whistle or command they step over the ball and return to happy feet
