DESCRIPTION

Groups of six. Four balls per group. Position players as shown in the diagram. Repeat in another area for a total of 12 players.

Red player 1 passes the ball to red server 3 who passes the ball back into the path of red player 1. Red player 1 shoots low and to the far post. Red player 3 turns and runs to the area at the far post to pick up any rebounds or shots wide of the target. Red player 3 becomes the goalkeeper. Blue goalkeeper goes to the back of the line and blue players 1 and 2 assume the pass and serve positions. Repeat the practice and rotate positions. Save= 5 points; rebound= 3 points; goal= 5 points; shot on target= 3 points.
Progression: Make blue player 1 a defender.

COACHING POINTS

Concentrate on accuracy.

Strike through the middle top-half of the ball.

Aim for the far post.

Practice starts with a bleu player running to wards the goal player from the white team passes the ball to this player, blue player shoots. next a player from the white team makes a leading run and receives the ball from a player from the red group.
next a player from the red group runs and receives the ball from the blue team.

Shooting Under Pressure:

Groups of six. Position players as shown in the diagram. One server and one attacker on each side of the goal with a single defender to the side of the goal. Repeat in another area for a total of 12 players.

Player 1 passes ball into space in front of player 2. Player 2 one touches and shoots on goal. As soon as player 2 touches the ball, the defender may move to challenge the shot. Repeat the practice in the opposite direction. Rotate positions.

Progression: When player 2 touches the ball, player 1 may move in to challenge the shot from behind.

Shooting the ball when it is coming across you:

Players set up in 2 lines with one central player who feeds you the ball. The ball must be struck first time. The other player follows in for a rebound.

Number Shooting - 1v1:

Number 2 groups of players from 1-5 and get them to stand on either side of the goal.

Call a number. The two players (one from each side) whose number was called race around the cones to enter the area.
When a player has entered through the gate the coach feeds the ball to the side where the first player has entered.
Player runs onto the ball and tries to score before the other player can make a challenge/block.
