DESCRIPTION

Players 1 and 2 pass the ball back and forth.
Player 4 tries to create space so that player 3 can receive the ball on the inside and have a free run onto goal.

COACHING POINTS

Change of speed and direction.

Do not let the defender see the player and the ball.

OFTEN USED WITH...

Functional Team Space:

Player 2 curves his/her run away from the passer and then back to the ball.

Player 2 receives the ball and turns towards goal in 1 motion.

Player 2 then delivers a cross for the waiting centre forward.

Passing and Receiving

Goals, Goals, Goals!:

Set up three lines of three across the pitch.

The players on the half way line start with the ball and pass up to player 2's feet. Player 2 controls the ball and turns (where possible with just one touch) and plays a one-two (wall pass) with player 3.

Upon receiving the return pass player 2 shoots first time.

Passing and Receiving

Corner Passing Drill:

Ratio of 1 ball to 3 players.

Players with the ball are put on the outside of the grid. The other players pair up inside the grid and choose 1 person as the attacker and 1 person as the defender. The attacking player must get free from their defender, receive the ball from any support player and play it back without losing possession.

Hit the cone:

Player 1 passes the ball wide of the cone to player 2.

Player 2 has to try and play the ball onto the cone with their 1st touch
