Soccer: Reaction Squats Warm Up

Great for warm ups.

Players dribble through the cones, pass to the waiting player at the end of the cones and then run back to touch the first red cone.

They then turn and sprint back inside the red square where they play a quick one-two.

After this they run back towards the start line, looking to run onto the weighted pass from the blue player.

The next player then goes.

Can be used with one or more keepers simultaneously. Place a ball on either side of your keepers, within diving reach.

Your keepers should be stood in the middle of these two balls on their cones.

When the coach / player gives the signal (stretching a hand out to the left or the right) your keepers should react as quickly as possible and dive to catch the ball on that side.

This drill simulates recovering, running quickly back onto your line.

The keeper starts the drill by sprinting out to touch the penalty spot with their hand. Once they've touched the penalty spot they run backwards as quickly as then can to get back onto their line.

As soon as the keeper has taken a couple of steps back the feeder plays a lobbed ball to try and go over the keeper into the goal.

Players pass and then move to find an empty cone. Players should take 1 touch.

With bigger numbers in your training session you can increase the number of cones and the number of balls accordingly.
